The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, chairs the first Council of Mayors of the European Presidency of Seville Aerospace Cities Ariane 2024. The mayor welcomed the institutional and business representatives attending the event, among them, the Mayor of Les Mureaux, François Garay, the Deputy Mayor of Kourou, Francoise Fredoc, as well as the General Delegate Community of Ariane Cities (CVA), Gaele Winters, and the Secretary of the Presidency, Miguel Angel Yagüe Vázquez, Director of Operations Programs of Airbus Defence and Space, partner in the Presidency.
During the event, Sanz pointed out that "during these days of institutional meeting and coexistence, we strengthen bonds to promote cooperation between the Ariane Cities Network and the industrialists involved, at the same time that we define the actions we will carry out from the association to increase the influence of the space sector in Europe".
José Luis Sanz has indicated that "according to the most recent report on the Andalusian aerospace sector prepared by the Andalusia Aerospace business cluster, 72.7% of aerospace companies are located in Seville, being Aerópolis, the Andalusian aerospace and technology park of reference".
Along with the launch of the Spanish Space Agency in Seville, Sanz stressed that "this year we will also see the start of activity of the new ESA Incubation Center (ESA-BIC), which will host space companies, providing support and mentoring".
In this line, the mayor added that "we must add the more than 50 activities promoted by the Space Forum, a platform composed of more than 40 entities that unite a common front: to contribute to the projection and promotion and dissemination to the public of the aerospace sector in Seville, international hub of the aerospace sector.
