The mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, held an institutional working meeting at Seville City Hall with an executive delegation from the Chinese technology and industrial giant Skyworth Group and its clean mobility division, Skywell Group. The meeting focused on exploring the possibilities of establishing an industrial manufacturing and assembly plant for electric vehicles in the city, as well as presenting a comprehensive technological proposal for the electrification of municipal public transportation.
During the meeting, Skyworth Group expressed its formal interest in evaluating Seville’s strengths as a potential location for a production and assembly center to supply the European market and North African countries. The multinational company seeks to take advantage of the city’s strategic positioning as a logistics hub, drawing on key factors such as the connectivity of its inland port, the availability of industrial land, local university talent, and a competitive cost environment.
At the same time, the company specializing in sustainable mobility has presented a technical project aimed at decarbonizing the municipal urban bus fleet (TUSSAM). Skyworth has more than 15 years of specific experience in the development of electric buses and offers a range of vehicles that includes zero-emission minibus solutions designed specifically for use in historic city centers and on roads with challenging layouts, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence and autonomous driving systems.
The mayor explained that “Seville is demonstrating through its actions that it is an attractive, reliable, and competitive city capable of attracting major foreign direct investment. Welcoming an industrial group of Skyworth’s stature reaffirms our strategy to make Seville a leader in industry and technological innovation in southern Europe.”
Sanz assured the executive delegation of the City Council’s full cooperation—through the investment promotion office “Sevilla Open for Business”—to study the feasibility of implementing the project: “The municipal government is making available to the company all the technical support needed to facilitate the search for land, the processing of permits, and the development of the project. We want to take advantage of every investment opportunity because every company that sets up operations in Seville translates into stable, skilled industrial jobs for the people of Seville.”

The international delegation was led by Zhu Ping, CEO and Co-Executive Director of Skyworth Group and Skywell Group, along with senior executives from the company, including Liu Qian, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Nanjing Golden Dragon, and executives from the R&D and international development divisions.
