Sevilla Open for Business is participating in MMH 2026, where its director, Manuel Parejo, moderated a technical session focused on R&D&I, digitalization, and new technologies applied to the mining sector

Sevilla Open for Business participated in the 6th Mining & Minerals Hall (MMH 2026), one of the mining sector’s leading events, where companies, institutions, and experts shared the latest technological advances and new opportunities related to an increasingly innovative and sustainable industry.

During the event, Manuel Parejo, director of Sevilla Open for Business, served as chairman and moderator of the technical session on R&D&I and Digitalization, which explored various technological solutions that are transforming the present and future of the mining industry.

Among the topics analyzed, the focus has been on the application of computational thermodynamic simulation to advance the decarbonization of metallurgical processes and the recovery of slag, as well as on the development of underground mining 4.0 through tools such as digital twins and remote operation systems, with special attention to improving worker safety.

The event also provided an opportunity to learn about advances in the use of drones and artificial intelligence to accelerate the exploration of lithium and other critical raw materials—resources that are essential for technological development and the energy transition.

Sevilla Open for Business’s participation in MMH 2026 is part of the Seville City Council’s strategy to strengthen the city’s ties to high-value-added industrial sectors and attract projects related to innovation, technology, and sustainable mining.

Seville thus continues to strengthen its position as a leading hub for businesses, investment, and knowledge in a strategic industry capable of generating economic activity, skilled jobs, and new opportunities linked to technological and energy transformation.
