The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, continues to consolidate strategic alliances in his business and trade mission in China. Accompanied by the mayor of Finance, Citizen Participation, Tourism and Digital Transformation, Juan Bueno, and Manuel Parejo, director of Sevilla Open for Business, Sanz has held key meetings in Shanghai with prominent leaders in the technology and research sector.
Collaboration with China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT)
In a meeting with Liy Yujuan, director of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the mayor has addressed the latest developments in 5G acceleration strategies and their application to digital tourism. "China's experience in the deployment of 5G networks and CAICT's knowledge are fundamental to advance Seville's Digital Strategic Plan. Our goal is to turn the city into a benchmark in cutting-edge technology," stated Sanz.
CAICT, one of the most prestigious scientific institutions in China, leads research in technologies such as 5G and 6G, industrial internet, cloud computing and big data. The meeting also allowed to explore possible collaborations to install a CAICT technology research center in Seville, with special interest in the Cartuja Science and Technology Park.
Partnerships with Huawei: Smart Cities and advanced connectivity
The mayor also met with Chen Chuanfei, president of Huawei Wireless Strategy, accompanied by the general manager of Huawei in Spain. At the meeting, Sanz offered the multinational technology company the opportunity to establish a research hub in Seville, thus strengthening 5G connectivity and the development of Smart City projects.
The Seville delegation visited the Shanghai Smart Cities management systems center, operated by Huawei, where they learned first-hand about the technological solutions applied to urban management. "We have strengthened cooperation ties with Huawei to boost advanced connectivity and increase Seville's technological capacity in the field of smart cities," said Sanz.
Seville Open for Business: attracting investment and talent
The Sevilla Open for Business office plays a crucial role in this international mission, providing customized services for the recruitment of high value-added companies. Sanz stressed that CAICT and Huawei have been provided with the strategic advantages of the city, such as its infrastructure, talent and business ecosystem, in addition to the broad portfolio of services offered by this municipal office.
"Seville is ready to become a technological pole of reference, attracting international investments that generate added value and quality employment. The collaboration with technology giants such as Huawei and CAICT is a decisive step to position our city at the forefront of innovation," concluded the mayor.
This mission to China reinforces Seville's commitment to technological development and digitalization, essential pillars for its sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
