The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, inaugurated the 5th edition of the International Mining and Minerals Hall (MMH), which is being held at the Seville Exhibition and Conference Center, FIBES. During his speech, Sanz emphasized that "the MMH has established itself as the most important mining event in Europe. The MMH is a real showcase for a strategic sector for the energy and digital transition. This year, we celebrate that a record participation has been reached, with 257 stands, 50% more than in 2022, along the 6432 square meters offered by this exhibition area".

The event, which is expected to be attended by more than 10,000 visitors and 1,000 congress participants, coincides with the entry into force of the 'European Law on Essential Raw Materials', which aims to encourage the production and processing of essential raw materials within Europe, reducing dependence on third countries.

The mayor stressed "the educational focus of this edition, with an area of dissemination aimed at schoolchildren and families to raise awareness of the importance of mining in everyday life, as well as the participation of 200 university students linked to Geology and Mining".

Finally, Sanz pointed out that "this edition of MMH 2024 has been recognized as a Fair with full internationality, a certification that proves its trajectory as an event with a wide opening to other countries. Proof of this will be the attendance of speakers from four continents and Sweden as guest country".
