• Iberdrola has confirmed its interest in collaborating with our city through its Joint Venture with BP, "an agreement that will allow the installation of electro-gas stations in our city".

  • During his meeting with Ignacio Juliá, the new CEO of Banco Santander, Sanz presented the competitive advantages of Seville to attract future investments from the financial institution.

  • Sanz: "With these meetings, we continue to reinforce our commitment to a modern, attractive city capable of leading economic growth in key sectors. These meetings reflect the commitment of the municipal government to the development of Seville as an ideal city to live, work, invest and visit."

The mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, held two important meetings in Madrid on Tuesday with the CEO of Iberdrola in Spain and with the new CEO of Banco Santander, meetings that "demonstrate the firm commitment of the City Council to economic development, sustainability and attracting investment to help us continue to drive the growth of Seville with more strength," said Sanz.

Meeting with Iberdrola

In this way, on the meeting held with the CEO of Iberdrola in Spain, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, the mayor stressed that "strategic projects for Seville have been addressed, such as the future Technological District of Higuerón Norte, an ambitious initiative that will combine 2500 homes -of which 40% will be affordable-, 2000 office spaces, commercial spaces, green areas and public facilities. We intend to finalize this project this year, so that we can start the urbanization project in 2026. The Higuerón Technology District is set to become a key driver for the economic development of our city".

Iberdrola has also confirmed its interest in collaborating with our city through its Joint Venture with BP, "an agreement that will allow the installation of electric charging stations in our city. In the short term, Seville will receive an investment of between 2 and 3 million euros for the installation of high-powered chargers. This project reinforces the commitment of the municipal government to sustainable mobility and the electrification of the economy based on clean alternative energies, key to achieving the objectives of decarbonization and consolidating Seville as a benchmark in sustainability and energy transition; this commitment is already endorsed by the Mission Label awarded to our city by the European Union for our environmental commitment," said the mayor.

Meeting with Banco Santander

On the other hand, during his meeting with Ignacio Juliá, new CEO of Banco Santander, Sanz has exposed the competitive advantages of Seville to attract future investments of the financial institution.

In this way, the mayor presented to Juliá the opportunities that Seville offers, as well as the major urban development projects that the government team has launched, such as the San Nicolás/Santa Bárbara Aerospace District, the Port District or the 15,000 new homes that will be in place before 2027, which includes the construction of 4,500 subsidized housing units.

In addition, the mayor highlighted the role of the Sevilla Open for Business office "as a fundamental tool to streamline procedures and promote investment in strategic sectors such as technology, innovation, renewable energies and audiovisuals, a perfect ally to accompany the investment process in Seville".

"Our city has all the conditions to become a national and international benchmark for investment, sustainability and quality employment, in rising as the great capital of Southern Europe. With these meetings, we continue to reinforce our commitment to a modern, attractive city capable of leading economic growth in key sectors. These meetings reflect the commitment of the municipal government to the development of Seville as an ideal city to live, work, invest and visit," concluded Sanz.
