The city is strengthening its role in a key sector for the green transition through a partnership that brings together major mining companies and bolsters public-private collaboration

Seville, March 23, 2026.– Seville continues to gain prominence as a city associated with industrial innovation and the development of strategic sectors with the launch of CEIMS, the Center of Excellence and Innovation in Sustainable Mining, an initiative that places the city in a leading position within the new European ecosystem of sustainable mining.

The project brings together leading companies such as Atalaya Mining, Cobre Las Cruces, Sandfire Matsa, and Minera Los Frailes, and was created with the aim of becoming a hub for innovation, engineering, training, and knowledge sharing in an area that is essential for addressing the challenges of the green transition.

The initiative reinforces Seville’s reputation as an ideal location for hosting high-value-added projects related to industry, technology, and business decision-making. At a time when Europe faces the challenge of securing access to strategic raw materials, the city is positioning itself as a hub capable of attracting initiatives focused on industrial modernization and sustainability.

The Seville City Council supports this strategic partnership, in line with its goal of expanding and diversifying the local economy, attracting new investment, and creating opportunities for skilled employment through collaboration between institutions and businesses.

The creation of CEIMS also represents a significant step toward establishing a leading center in Seville dedicated to the transformation of the mining sector—not only from an industrial perspective, but also in areas such as research, technical training, and the development of innovative solutions tailored to today’s environmental and social challenges.

Through initiatives like this, Seville continues to strengthen its ability to attract strategic projects, forge long-term partnerships, and establish itself as a city poised to lead new growth opportunities linked to innovation and the economy of the future.
